Throughout the school year, volunteers from the Sanctuary help local community children in Grades 1-6 who struggle with reading. Children of all reading levels practice humorous scripts for five weeks then complete the unit with a performance in front of friends and family. This program is a wonderful way to meet a need within our community and help better the lives of children.
Summer BBQ’s @ Churchill Apartments
Each summer, the Sanctuary hosts free BBQ’s for people who live in one of the lowest income communities within Oakville. Local families join people from our church for free warm food as the children play games. This has been an effective way to break down barriers and get to know people’s stories and struggles.
Upward Sports Summer Camps
The Sanctuary is proud to partner with Upward Sports and provide an affordable, fun experience for local kids who may otherwise not have a chance to experience the fun and thrills of summer camp. Volunteers provide an excellent, fun packed week for all who attend.
Upward Sports develops total athletes – mentally, athletically, spiritually, and socially. This is done through experienced coaches who guide players through each stage of athletic growth while using the teachings of Christ to foster positive sportsmanship and character.
This years camp runs July 17-21 & July 24-28 . To register your child, please visit http://www.upwardtoronto.org/
Food For Life
Food for Life sources and distributes fresh, nutritious food to those in need through community partnerships. They holds a unique niche among Canadian food relief charities in that they focus on redistributing fresh, nutritious food as opposed to traditional food bank fare such as canned goods.
The Sanctuary is proud to partner with Food for Life and provide fresh, nutritious food for those in need in our local community, especially those located close to the Sanctuary Community Centre.
Restore Halton’s mission is building a community of individuals, churches and organizations who care for those in need. Through their training and resources, the Sanctuary is able to equip members of our church to address urgent needs of local residents and provide them power and resources to make positive steps in their lives. Whether it is a need for shelter, food, addiction therapy, or debt reduction, we help create a plan for the individual to find freedom from what is holding them back. Our goal is always to be Christ to all in hopes we will have the opportunity to share about Christ to all.
Moldova Mission Trip – Partners International (Canada)
The Sanctuary has recently developed a relationship with Partners International to help combat Human Trafficking in the Republic of Moldova which is the poorest country in Eastern Europe. Moldova has the highest number of people trafficked per capita than any other country in the world. Each year, we plan to visit Moldova and assist Beginning of Life Ministries in their care for girls who have been rescued from human trafficking and on the road to rehabilitation. Ways we can assist is by teaching the girls a skill such as dress making, crafts, ESL, speaking in local schools, and much more.
